World Environment Day: Firms inspire youths, traders in Portharcourt to beat plastic pollution


In a display of dedication towards environmental sustainability, Dantown, a fast-growing Nigerian crypto exchange partnered with iRecycle, a renowned environmental sustainability and recycling company, to mark World Environment Day with a community service.


The event which was held on Saturday, June 3rd at Abuloma Market in Port Harcourt LGA, Rivers State, witnessed a resounding success as volunteers and community members, showcased the power of collaboration and corporate social responsibility.

Despite challenging weather conditions, the joint effort of Dantown and iRecycle was evident throughout the day. Market women and men, eco-conscious volunteers, and employees from both organizations participated in a clean-up mission to rid the area of plastic waste.

Demonstrating their shared commitment to a cleaner and greener future, participants proudly wore colorful shirts displaying the logos of Dantown and iRecycle.


The clean-up exercise kicked off with a public sensitisation at the market, highlighting the importance of environmental sustainability and the urgent need to tackle plastic pollution. The volunteers were provided with gloves and cleaning materials by Dantown as they carried out the community service with diligence.

In addition to the clean-up activities, the event also unveiled iRecycle’s vision for a sustainable future and emphasized their recycling and waste management expertise. Dantown sponsored two large bins specifically designed for plastic waste collection at the market, encouraging proper waste disposal and recycling practices among the community.
