Tinubu’s foreign trips surpass Buhari’s

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s foreign trips have surpassed former President Muhammadu Buhari’s record for the number of days spent abroad during their first year in office, according to official data from Statisense.


The data conducted by Statisense disclosed that Tinubu spent approximately one in every four days outside Nigeria during his first year in office.

Tinubu was abroad for 86 days, from May 2023 to May 2024, according to the data.

Statisense revealed that in 2023, Tinubu was abroad for 50 days, while in the first quarter of 2024, he spent 36 days, for a total of 86 days out of 366 days spent on foreign trips.

Tinubu’s record exceeds his predecessor, former President Buhari’s record, as stated in the data.

Buhari is said to have spent 47 days abroad between May 2015 and May 2016, equivalent to one in every eight days outside the country.

The data, however, excludes any travels that lasted less than 24 hours.
