Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, has accepted to be the chief guest speaker at the 2024 Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) lecture scheduled for July 25, in Abuja.

In response to the group’s invitation letter, Soludo commended HURIWA for its commitment to defending human rights and amplifying the voices of the marginalised and oppressed.

He expressed readiness to contribute to the discourse on the nexus between political leadership and human rights.

The rights group noted that the governor’s participation would underscore his dedication to advancing human rights and social justice in Anambra State and beyond.

It added that Soludo’s participation will lend credence to the theme, ‘Any Nexus Between Political Leadership and Human Rights?’ providing invaluable insights from a seasoned leader. His presence will attract wider attention and participation from stakeholders, policymakers, and the public.

HURIWA further said that Soludo’s discussion will shed light on policy implementation and avenues for fostering a rights-based approach to governance. His speech is expected to inspire and engage participants, encouraging them to take proactive steps toward promoting and protecting human rights in their communities.
