Sokoto State Govt. to introduce machinise farming soon, says Gov. Wamakko

Sokoto, April 13, 2015 (NAN) Gov. Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State says the state government will soon introduce machinise farming method to ensure full ultilsation of the multi-million naira Goronyo Dam in the state.

Wamakko stated this when he received the people of Goronyo Local Government Area, who paid him a congratulatory visit.

The community was led on the visit by the Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Bello Goronyo.

Wamakko, a senator-elect, assured that the in-coming administration in the state would continue to initiate people-oriented policies that would enhance the socio-economic and political development of the state.

According to him, the state is blessed with vast agricultural land convenient for the production of assorted food crops for domestic and external consumptions.

Wamakko commended the people of the state for voting massively for candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the March 28 and April 11 elections.

He said that the era of youth migrating to urban areas in search of jobs was over as assorted modern inputs would continue to be made available for farmers to enhance massive food production in the state.

Speaking earlier on behalf of the delegation, Goronyo said that the visit by the people of the area was also to restate their commitment and support to the governor-elect, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal.

” We are farmers and committed towards producing assorted crops for both local and export,” he said.

Meanwhile, the people of Sabon-Birni Local Government Area of the state also paid similar visit to the governor where he assured them that the in-coming APC-led Federal Government would construct a rail line from Sabon-Birni to Lagos.

Wamakko said that the project would enhance the movement of farm products to the rest of the country.

In his remarks, Sen.Ibrahim Gobir (APC- Sokoto East senatorial zone), who spoke on behalf of the delegation, assured Wamakko that the people of the area would continue to pray for peace, progress and political development of the state and the country. (NAN)
