SDP appoints Oyebolu as Chairman of Ondo State chapter

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has appointed Dr. Segun Oyebolu as the acting Chairman of the Ondo State chapter of the party.

This follows the acceptance of the resignation of the former state chairman, Stephen Adewale by the NWC.

In a letter to the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), jointly signed by its National Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Gabam and its National Secretary, Dr. Olu Agunloye, through which it notified INEC of Oyebolu’s appointment, SDP said it had dissolved the Ondo State Executive Committee in line with provisions of the 2022 Constitution of the party.

“This is to officially inform your office that the NWC of SDP has received reports of gross misconduct and anti-party activities by the state executive committee of the Ondo State chapter, and the letter of resignation of Mr. Stephen Adewale as its state chairman.

“Consequently, the NWC has appointed Dr. Olusegun Oyebolu as the acting State Chairman as well as the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee for the state chapter. This appointment takes immediate effect,” the letter read in part.

Other members of the Caretaker Committee include Mr Jimmy Akinyan (Secretary), Barr. Gbenga Akinbuli (Organising Secretary); Rev. Martin Falodun (Publicity Secretary); Barr. Omoware Akinyemi (Legal Adviser); Mrs. Dupe Ibitoye (Speaker, Women Parliament); and Alagbala Meduoye (Treasurer).

The NWC added that it would soon conduct a fresh congress in Ondo to elect a new state executive committee.
