Police arrest ‘one chance’ robbery veterans with 22-year experience

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested two suspects involved in numerous criminal activities, particularly “one chance” robberies.

In a statement on Saturday, the NPF described the suspects, Chukwudi Nbachukwu and Chukwuma Okeke, as experienced in robbery, with 22 years of combined experience. Nbachukwu, 47, is from Enugu and resides in Madala, Niger State, while Okeke, 41, is from Ebonyi State and lives in Abuja.

According to the police, the suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department – Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT).

Nbachukwu, a trained radio mechanic, has been involved in “one chance” robberies for over two decades.

He recounted being arrested multiple times, charged in court, and escaping trial.

During the parade, Nbachukwu detailed how they targeted roadside passengers with locked bags and robbed them without alerting the victims.

“One chance” robbery involves luring unsuspecting passengers into vehicles under the pretense of offering a legitimate ride, only to rob them once inside.

The NPF urges the public to remain vigilant when using public transportation and suggests patronizing registered parks and garages.

“We need to learn from people’s mistake. Go and patronise registered parks and garages. Every city in Nigeria has a registered parks. Endeavour to register to patronise registered and known commercial vehicles. Stop standing by the roadside,” the police said.
