Police arrest 40-year-old man for defiling teenager in Rivers

The Police in Rivers State have arrested a 40-year-old man, identified simply as Obadiah, for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl at Ojike street, Mile 1 Diobu.

The Guardian learnt that Obadiah, a bouncer at one of the nightclubs in Port Harcourt, sent the teenager on an errand to buy snacks for him last week Friday.

A source in the area explained that when the teenager came back from the errand, the suspect asked her to bring the snacks inside his room.

He further disclosed that immediately the unsuspecting teenager brought the snacks into his room, he locked the door, raised the volume of his radio set while he defiled the victim.

The Guardian gathered that a co-tenant of the suspect, who noticed that it took time before the teenager came out of the suspect’s room, approached the teenager in the evening and she narrated what transpired, leading to the arrest of the suspect.

Confirming the incident, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Grace Iringe-Koko, said the suspect has been transferred from Mile 1 Police Division to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) Port Harcourt for discreet Investigation.
