Deputy Senate president Omo-Agege loses Delta governorship bid to Oborevwori

Deputy Senate president Ovie Omo-Agege

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sheriff Oborevwori winner of the governorship election in Delta State.

Sheriff defeated his closest rival Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressives Congress (APC) while the All Progressive Grand Alliance candidate Great Ogboru was third.

Sheriff won 21 out of the 25 local government areas in Delta State to emerge the winner.

He polled 360,234 votes, Omo-Agege got 240,229 and 11,029 votes went to Ogboru.

He will take over from Ifeanyi Okowa, also of the PDP who assumed office in 2015.
