NSUK ex-VC exits in style as NUC approves operations of Lincoln varsity Malaysia

It was a memorable day for the immediate past Vice Chancellor, Nassarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Prof. Suleiman BalaMuhammed, as Nigerians from all strata of life, including officials of Lincoln University College, Malaysia, gathered to celebrate his achievements as head of the institution.


Dignitaries at the event included Governor of Nasarawa State, AbdullahiSule, and former Governor Senator Tanko Al-makura, who said the celebration marked a pivotal moment in recognition of Muhammed’s exceptional leadership and dedication.

Under Muhammed’s visionary leadership, with the approval of the National University Commission (NUC), 10 full-time undergraduate programmes were established at NSUK’s Main Campus under the Transnational Education (TNE) mode.


These programmes, including B.Sc. Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Biomedical Science, Biotechnology, Nursing, Psychology, Accounting, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, and Mass Communication, signify a bold step forward in enhancing educational opportunities.

President and Founder, Lincoln University, Malaysia, Prof. BhaumikAmiya presented Muhammed with the prestigious “Global Education and Visionary Leadership Award” at the well attended event in Keffi.

Amiya who was represented by the CEO of Lincoln Nigeria, Dr. MurtadhoAlao, said the award recognises the ex-VC role in fostering global education initiatives at NSUK and facilitating the establishment of Lincoln University Malaysia as the first foreign teaching institution approved by the NUC under the TNE policy.

Amiya further announced an award of a full scholarship worth N90 million to 30 deserving students of the institution.


He added that transformative initiative underscores Muhammed’s commitment to nurturing academic excellence and accessibility for Nigerian students.
Amiya further stated that the establishment of Lincoln University NSUK keffi campus is to create accessible to quality education through scholarship and affordable tuition fees.

The NUC’s TNE policy, in alignment with the Federal Government’s approval, aims to enhance access to tertiary education enrollment, quality, research, development, employment opportunities, and foreign direct investments.
Lincoln University Malaysia’s approval to run academic activities under the TNE programme, confirmed by the NUC, reflects a significant milestone in advancing educational partnerships..

Already, the NUC has affirmed the status of Lincoln University Malaysia, confirming its approval to conduct academic activities under the Transnational Education Programme.

Academia believed that the endorsement underscores the Nigerian government’s commitment to expanding educational access and quality through innovative partnerships.
