Nigerian tech startups incorporated in U.S., says envoy

United States Consul General, Will Stevens, has disclosed that as much as 80 per cent of Nigerian tech startups are incorporated in the United States, emphasising that U.S. venture capital firms have invested heavily in African tech startups.
  
The diplomat, who made the disclosure in his keynote address at the Omniverse Summit, yesterday, at Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, also noted that over 60 per cent of venture capital funding in Nigeria came from the United States.
  
Speaking on the theme: ‘Role of Technology in Fostering International Collaboration in Interconnected World,’ Stevens noted: “We are using the latest technological innovations to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges in the areas of climate change, education, healthcare, agriculture, and other vital areas of development and economic growth.”
