The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Wednesday, moved the state elections from March 11 to 18, 2023.
Making the appeal, yesterday, in his office in Minna, during a chat with newsmen, the All Progressive Congress (APC) stalwart explained that voter turnout during the presidential and National Assembly elections was not commensurate with the number of registered voters, urging the electorate to come out en masse to elect candidates of their choice in the next ballot.
His words: “We have over two million registered voters in Niger State, and slightly above 800,000 voted. I am calling on them to come out to exercise their franchise.”
Kolo advised the residents, especially supporters of political parties, to maintain peace and orderliness as exhibited in the February 25 poll.
On the recent claim by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that INEC’s sensitive materials were recovered in the situation room of APC gubernatorial candidate, the governor’s aide stressed: “We do not want to join issues with any opposition party.”
He added that the man suspected to have raised the false alarm was picked by the police for giving out false information, noting that political parties have right to set up situation room.
According to him, APC has put in place necessary machinery that would make it victorious in the re-scheduled polls.
