Mouka partners Lagos, 12 others to celebrate first babies yearly

Leading manufacturer of mattresses and other bedding products, Mouka, has celebrated families with gift items to babies born on New Year Day in furtherance of its commitment to adding value to life.

The company participated in celebratory events to welcome the newborns across 13 public healthcare facilities in Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Edo, Imo, Enugu, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Kaduna, Kano and Plateau states.

In Lagos, the market leader in the Nigerian sleep industry collaborated the governor’s wife, Dr. lbijoke Sanwo-Olu, at selected public health facilities across the metropolis, to present gifts to mothers of the first babies at Eti-Osa Maternal and Child Centre (MCC), Lekki-Ajah; Ebute-Metta General Hospital and Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ayinke House, Ikeja.

Mrs. Sanwo-Olu was accompanied by wife of the deputy governor, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat; Commissioner for Health, Prof. Abayomi Majekodunmi; Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr. Olusegun Ogboye and other top government functionaries.

Baby Iromain Ayinde, a female who weighed 2.9 kilogrammes and delivered at Ebute-Meta General Hospital by 12:02a.m through Mrs. Iromain, was first Baby of the Year at, while the first babies of the year at LASUTH were triplets delivered through Caesarian Section by Mrs. Olufoye. The first child, a female, weighing 2.2kg, was delivered at exactly 12:07a.m; the second, a male, who weighed 2kg, was given birth to at 2:08a.m, while the third, a male who weighed 2.1kg, was delivered by 12:09a.m.


Sanwo-Olu said welcoming newborns is a symbolic and significant event that brings forth the assurances that human heritage is carried on to the next generation.

While congratulating the parents, the First Lady commended philanthropists as well as corporate bodies like Mouka, especially the management, headed by Femi Fapohunda, who was a special guest, for consistently getting involved in seeing to the execution of vision and efforts of the state government for a sound health sector.

In his remarks, Fapohunda, who is the firm’s Managing Director, said as promoters of quality rest, the brand has continued to advocate for a healthy sleep culture, beginning from childhood.

This is why Mouka donated Dreamtime mattresses, specially designed with children in mind, to the first babies of the year.

Earlier, Prof. Abayomi Dr. Sanwo-Olu for sustaining the Annual First Baby of the Year event, stating that the state government and corporate organisations have been supportive and committed to the welfare and wellbeing of mothers and children.

Expressing their joy, e parents of the triplets Mr. and Mrs. Olufoye, commended Mouka for the gift items.
