Lewis Capaldi made an announcement yesterday regarding his upcoming commitments. He has decided to cancel all his current shows, including those in Leeds, Glasgow, and London, as well as his planned performance at the Norwegian festival Neon.
The reason behind this decision is that the musician wants to take some time away from the spotlight to rest and recover, ensuring that he is at his best for his performance at the Glastonbury Festival later this month. In his words, he said, “It’s been such an incredible time leading into this new album, and seeing all of the support from everyone has been beyond anything I could have ever dreamed of”,
The musician further said, “The last few months have been full on both mentally and physically, I haven’t been home properly since Christmas and at the moment I’m struggling to get to grips with it all”.
In a statement shared on social media, Capaldi expressed the difficulty of delivering this message, as it pains him to have to cancel these commitments. </span
He expressed his apologies and explained that since the release of his new album, he has experienced an overwhelming amount of support, beyond anything he could have imagined. However, the past few months have taken a toll on him both mentally and physically.
Not having had a proper break since Christmas, he is currently struggling to handle it all.
Capaldi confirmed his need for a moment of rest and recovery in order to be in top form for Glastonbury and the other upcoming shows.
He emphasized the importance of taking this time to be himself outside of the musician persona, reconnect with his family and friends, and engage in ordinary activities that contribute to his well-being. He hoped for everyone’s understanding of this decision.
Recognizing that many fans have already made arrangements such as travel and hotel bookings, Capaldi expressed deep gratitude and sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.
He acknowledged the economic challenges faced by many and appreciated the dedication of his fans who invest their time, money, and love into attending his shows.
