LASG seeks collaborative efforts to curb disaster

Lagos State Government has reiterated its dedication and commitment to partnering with all agencies to ensure a disaster-free state.

Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Oluwafemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, stated this, yesterday, during a strategic session on emergency policy and framework organised by the Lagos State Disaster Risk Reduction Technical Working Group.

Oke-Osanyintolu emphasised the agency’s commitment to collaborating with various organisations in a bid to enhance disaster-risk reduction in the state.

The event underscored the pivotal role of collaborative efforts in effective risk and disaster management.

The Permanent Secretary stressed the importance of the technical working group in planning, monitoring, and preparing for emergencies, saying that a united front among agencies would lead to greater success in emergency response and risk reduction.

He, therefore, encouraged teamwork, highlighting the collective responsibility of all agencies in achieving a safer and more resilient Lagos State.

The Lead Consultant, LAMBDA Consulting, Dr Olajide Sobande, advocated the need for the state to allocate more resources towards preventing disasters rather than waiting for them to occur.

He urged a focus on developing a 21st-century mega city with robust disaster risk reduction measures.
