LASEMA signs MoU to ensure safety on Lagos Rail Project


In a significant step towards enhancing safety along the Lagos Red Line Rail Project, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with First Metro Infrastructure Limited (FMIL) to provide safety measures.

 
The MoU signing ceremony, held at the LASEMA control centre in Alausa, marks a pivotal moment in ensuring the security and well-being of commuters utilizing the red line rail project.

The Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, hailed the MoU as a remarkable achievement under the leadership of Governor BabajideSanwo-Olu. 

He emphasised the importance of this collaboration in ensuring safety protocols along the red line, highlighting the completion of risk analysis and the establishment of LASEMA response bases in proximity to the red line stations from Agbado to Oyingbo. 

According to him, essential facilities such as hospitals, fire stations, and trained personnel have been strategically positioned to handle any emergencies effectively.

“With the agenda set by the Governor of Lagos State, we are committed to building resilience and efficiently managing the red line. Partnering with FMIL ensures the safety of Lagosiansutilising the Red Line, and we have taken every possible measure to guarantee their security.”

He urged pedestrians and residents of Lagos to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations governing the red line, emphasising the importance of collective efforts in maintaining safety and ensuring uninterrupted business operations along the corridor.

The Chief Operating Officer of First Metro Infrastructure Limited, DejiAdeyinka expressed the company’s commitment to the partnership with LASEMA and the Lagos State government.

“This MoU signifies our dedication to fostering a robust working relationship with the emergency response unit of the state,”Adeyinka stated. “Our priority is to provide reliable services and ensure the safety of all passengers along the red rail lines. 

In the event of any emergency, we are confident in the support of the state.” He explained that the collaborative efforts between LASEMA and FMIL underscore a proactive approach towards safeguarding the well-being of commuters and reinforcing emergency response mechanisms along the vital transportation corridor of the Lagos Red Line. 

“With both entities aligned in their commitment to safety, commuters can traverse the Red Line with confidence, knowing that comprehensive measures are in place to address any unforeseen circumstances effectively.”
