Association of 2017-2021 Ex-Local Government Councillors, yesterday, appealed to Kebbi State government to offset severance allowance of members before commencement of this year’s general elections.
Addressing newsmen shortly after their meeting in Birnin Kebbi, secretary of the association, Albayan Lolo, acknowledged that part of the money was paid last year, urging the Governor Atiku Bagudu administration to defray the balance.
He said paying off the money would increase chances of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to retain power and wrest more positions in the state.
His words: “After deliberating on the issue, we resolved that the only way to pass this information to our governor is through the media. People are in need of money, some members have decamped to opposition parties, while others are trying to also leave because of lack of motivation.”
