JCI restates commitment to youth empowerment

To commemorate its 40th anniversary, Junior Chamber International (JCI), Ikeja Branch has indicated its resolve to focus on four key projects in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while restating its commitment to youth empowerment.

It identified SDGs three, four, five and 13, which involve good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality and climate actions respectively to mark four decades of its existence.

Speaking at the anniversary seminar, with the theme ‘Celebrating Legacy, Shaping Tomorrow,’ JCI Senator Olamide Akin-Balogun, hinted that the organisation would partner with the government and private organisations to execute the projects.

According to her, the celebration would chronicle the impact JCI has made over the years and also ensure more works are done to ensure it contributes its quota to the development of the country.

She said: “We are not stand-alone, we collaborate with the government when we do projects.

There are some projects we run in partnership with the government especially when it comes to the SDGs. For instance, we are going to partner with the Ministry of Education to run our education project, and we are going to partner with the Ministry of Environment to run our environment.
