Injury knocks Ayinde out of Super Falcons’ Olympic team

Less than 24 hours after she was included in the Super Falcons’ squad for the Paris 2024 Olympics, Rosengard FC midfielder, Halimatu Ayinde, has reportedly suffered an injury that may rule her out of the Games.
   
Ayinde made the list released by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Wednesday. But according to an online report, the former Delta Queens midfielder suffered a knee injury while training the same day, and will miss the Olympics, a statement from her club yesterday said.
  
“Unfortunately, Halimatu Ayinde injured her knee during training, yesterday and will miss the Olympics. We wish her a speedy recovery. Get well, Halimatu,” the club’s statement read.
 
With the latest development, Coach Randy Waldrum would be forced to choose any of the alternate players on the list to replace the midfielder.The alternative players are Gift Monday, Ifeoma Onumonu, Jumoke Alani, and Morufat Ademola.
