How Ebere Nwankwo built Phonemart Technologies from scratch

Ebere Reginald Nwankwo, the Chairman of Phonemart Technologies, is a name synonymous with leadership, innovation, and philanthropy in Nigeria. Born in Eluama Lokpaukwu, Umuchieze, Abia State, Nwankwo’s journey from his humble beginnings to becoming a renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist is truly inspiring.


Nwankwo’s educational journey began at Uru Lokpaukwu Primary School and continued at Ahaba Imenyi Secondary School, Isiukwuato LGA, where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate and West African School Certificate, respectively. He furthered his education at Abia State University, Uturu, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and later a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B Hons).

Speaking about the inception of Phonemart Technologies, Nwankwo shared, “Phonemart Technologies is a child of necessity, born out of a desire to contribute to the development and forward trajectory of the ICT sector in our dear country.” His vision and dedication have guided Phonemart Technologies to become a key player in Nigeria’s ICT landscape.


Nwankwo’s career spans both the public and private sectors. He worked with Inland Bank (now FCMB) and Parktel International before venturing into entrepreneurship in 2008. As a serial entrepreneur, he founded the Regal Group, which includes Phonemart Technologies, Regal Cribz, Regal Granites, RegalBuyer Limited, and Regal Devices Limited.

Nwankwo’s commitment to his community is unwavering. He has served in various capacities within his local government area and Abia State, including roles such as Supervisor for Agriculture, Umunneochi LGA, Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media.

His dedication to community service and philanthropy is exemplified through the Nwachinaemere Care and Empowerment Foundation. “I am passionate about charity and philanthropy,” Nwankwo said, highlighting his drive to positively impact lives. His charitable efforts have earned him numerous awards, including the Hope Of The Youth and Abia Humanitarian Of The Year 2021.


Nwankwo’s contributions have not gone unnoticed. He has received several accolades for his leadership and philanthropic efforts, including a chieftaincy title, Nwachinaemere 1 of Uru Lokpaukwu Community. His dedication to empowering others and making a positive impact continues to inspire many.
