It said the imposition of a candidate against the wish of the majority of the members might affect the chances of APC at the poll.

The group said the plot to impose a particular candidate on the people of the constituency could cause disharmony among the party members.
President of the group, Saheed Ademolokun, in a statement made available to journalists yesterday, said the party could send the wrong signal to the youths if an ‘old candidate’ is imposed on them without creating an opportunity for a contest.
He said: “What we want is that all candidates should be allowed to contest; they should all be made to tell the party members why we have to vote for them instead of this attempt to impose somebody on us.
“We strongly feel this is the time for the youth in Alimosho to participate in governance.”
“We have a number of young elements with intense capacity and ability to deliver but this imposition of candidate could mean the youth have no future in the party. President Muhammadu Buhari said recently that youth should be given more opportunities and that is also the position of our National Leader and the incoming President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
“We have learnt on good authority that a leader of the party is insisting that a candidate who is also a current commissioner will be offered the ticket. We can’t ask anyone not to aspire but what we are saying is that she should be asked to go through the primary, if she is that popular, she will get the vote of the members of our party.”
The group said Alimosho deserves effective representation at both the state and federal levels and the youths in the local government are willing to offer greater participation in the process.
“Alimosho is strategic to APC; we produce the highest votes for the party in any elections and the youths play a big role in those success stories and that is why we have to do things that will keep them supporting and working for the party,” he added.
