A non-governmental organisation, Anchor heritage has donated items to inmates at Ikoyi Correctional Centre, Lagos, to protect them from contracting infectious diseases.
The Chief Operating Officer, Anchor Heritage Empowerment Initiative, Mr. Bidemi Oladipupo, said the organisation was concerned about the health of the inmates, especially not getting infected at this time.
He items donated through prison officials include thermometer for temperature check, anti-bacteria bathing soap, hand washing soap, nose masks (to all inmates) in custody and bleach for cleaning the toilets and the environments.
“With this, we would make sure that they stay healthy and reduce the risk of disease transmission within them and upon release.”
He disclosed that the organisation also empower inmates so that when they return from prison they have something to do. He calls on other well-meaning Nigerians to help concentrate on rehabilitating, reforming and reintegrating the inmates.
Oladipupo said the organisation, which started operation in 2017, has been having outreach programmes in Lagos, Osun and Kwara states and set to roll out to other states this year.
“We are also calling on well-meaning Nigerians and corporate organisations to partner with us to foster this initiative.
