A non-political and socio-cultural group in Rivers State, the Kalabari Committee of Friends Club (KCFC), has commended Nyesom Wike administration for the trans-Kalabari road project, saying it will decongest Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The group described the project as apt, noting that Wike-led government is not discriminatory in its infrastructural developments.
KCFC, in a statement signed by its president, Emmanuel Awoyeseku and Public Relations Officer, Ipalibo West, noted that the project would not only benefit the Kalabari people but also the nation as it would yield huge economic benefits through increased trade and tourism.
The group noted that the trans-Kalabari road and bridge would solve the numerous problems of transportation, create opportunities, usher in vital developments and tackle the challenges of pirates’ attacks in Riverine communities.
The group said the governor’s giant step on the project, which is expected to connect the riverine communities to the state capital and other states across the nation for the first time after over 10 decades.
It would be recalled that the Trans-Kalabari road project has been one of the topical issues in the Rivers political tuning since 1999.
It said: “The flagging off of the Trans-Kalabari project, which is one of the numerous laudable projects spread across the entire Kalabari Kingdom by the Nyesom Wike-led administration is an eloquent testimony of your interest and love for all the Kalabari people. We are therefore grateful for the bold and giant step on the landmark project.”
