The Deputy Gubernatorial Candidate of Labour Party in Lagos State, Princess Abiodun Oyefusi has called for the zoning of the Speaker of the House of Representatives/Senate President to a Female Gender in the 10th Assembly.
Princess Abiodun stated this while speaking on the role of women in political participation and country’s development with newsmen in Lagos State.
The Politician explain that this will substantiate the reality of running an inclusive government.
She added that such action will be described as a show of peace and understanding for the country’s democracy to thrive.
The Woman Advocate further explained that it is important to uphold the provisions of the national gender policy and be intentionally gender inclusive.
She, therefore, asked the politicians to honour the judgment on the implementation of the National gender policy, which was granted in favour of Nigerian women by Hon. Justice Donatus Okorowo of the Federal High Court.
“I am using this opportunity to call on all the elected lawmakers to zone the Speaker of the House of Representatives/Senate President positions to a Female Gender in the 10th Assembly.
“It is important to note that this will substantiate the reality of running an inclusive government.
“Infact such action will be described as a show of peace and understanding for the country’s democracy to thrive.
The Woman Advocate further explained that it is important to uphold the provisions of the national gender policy and be intentionally gender inclusive.
