Gas explosion rocks Tejuoso area in Lagos

A Gas explosion, yesterday, rocked the Tejuosho NTA 10 area in Lagos State.
The explosion was followed by a blaze that gutted dozens of wooden shanties.


The fire, which broke out at about 1:00 p.m., also affected the nearby Saint Heritage Children’s School on Adedapo Street, off Aralile Street in Surulere.

According to sources, the inferno began in a room after a community member left food unattended on a gas cooker.

Emergency responders, including the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos Fire Service, Nigeria Police, Lagos Neighbourhood Security Watch and others, were at the scene to combat the fire.

As at the time of filing this report, Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu and Director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, said the fire was eventually brought under control, but rescue operations were ongoing.

No life was lost and no injury was reported.
