GAIA Africa, a premium club for women in leadership in collaboration with Guardian Woman, one of the unique offerings of The Guardian, Nigeria’s leading independent newspaper, focused on empowering women by sharing inspiring stories around the world holds an Open Day today.

The GAIA Open Day which takes place at The Haven, GAIA House, in Victoria Island, Lagos, is a vibrant celebration of its community, offering an exciting opportunity for prospective members to connect, engage, and discover the unique offerings of the club through informative presentations, interactive sessions, and facility tours, as attendees will gain insights into the benefits of GAIA membership and the value it brings to female leaders in various industries.

According to the founder, GAIA Africa, Mrs. Olatowun Candide-Johnson, its vision is to contribute to the socio-economic growth and transformation of Africa by empowering women to organise around the principles of female leadership and participation in business. GAIA addresses, several challenges of gender inequality inherent in African societies.

“Firstly, by creating a space where women can connect for business, as men have always had spaces they can convene and connect for business and have always connected for business naturally. This has not been the same for women historically.

“Whilst women have generally connected and bonded over several things, family life, children and so on, and up until recently haven’t really connected for business in a way that is collectively significant. GAIA is working hard to ensure that our members our connecting for business and providing each other with support through our Mastermind Groups. Additionally, whilst African countries have made some strides to put more women in leadership roles there is still a dearth of women in leadership roles. Through our Board Talent Programme, GAIA works hand in hand with partners to boost female leadership participation on boards,” Candide-Johnson added.
