FRSC records three deaths, 17 road crashes in Delta

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Delta State Command, recorded three deaths, and 17 road crashes between December 15, 2023 and January 15, 2024.

The Sector Commander, Udeme Bassey Eshiet, who disclosed this, said two road crashes were fatal while the others were minor.

According to him, three persons died in road crashes during Yuletide. He disclosed that the incidents happened as a result of over speeding by drivers and non-compliance with road safety tips.

He said there was a reduction in the number of crashes during the ‘ember’ months compared to previous years. “It was really commendable this time around. We had 17 road crashes from December 15, 2023 to January 15, 2024; only two were fatal with three deaths,” he said.

Eshiet pledged the corps’ commitment to making roads safe and reducing crashes in the state.

Meanwhile, a patrol team involved in a crash with a Toyota Sienna car, along Asaba- Benin expressway, has been subjected to an orderly room trial.

Confirming the development, Eshiet said the command would not tolerate indiscipline among its personnel.

“All the personnel involved are already facing disciplinary action. If they are found culpable, they will be punished accordingly,” he said.

He revealed that the command has reached out to the driver of the Sienna in terms of treatment.
