Success stories are quite easy to celebrate. Across the globe, stories abound of men and women making giant strides in their chosen craft. Whether in manufacturing, entertainment, the academics, or ICT, young minds have role models they look up to; stars that have made the world a better place.
However, these inspiring stories are not without their fair share of turbulence, threats and challenges.
Nigeria’s fast rising model and fashion entrepreneur, Sophia Etomi, who has a massive following on Instagram, is not unfamiliar with this trajectory as she shares her story with our correspondent.
According to her, seeing others succeed has proven to be a tonic of some sort, noting that rather focusing on the dark spots, she got inspired by the successes of musical artists and movie thespians.

“I saw how a lot of people held on and carried themselves with poise. I mean the likes of Tiwa Savage, Waje, Omotola Jelade-Ekeinde. among others. I just want to replicate such level of professionalism and integrity,” Sophia Etomi said.
She added also that the fear of the danger of letting those around her down, ensures she gets up every morning with extra motivation not to settle for anything less.
“Well, I have people around me who demand for the best. I can’t fail myself neither can I fail them so I just need to keep on doing my best,” Sophia Etomi said, adding that as a result, she’s contemplating delving into the world of acting.
Sophia Etomi, like Okonkwo in Chinua Achebe ‘s ‘Things Fall Apart,’ craves the sort of fame that rests on solid personal achievements. Doing this entails eyes on the ball with zero chances of distraction by things matter less.
