About 227 indigent widows and aged women in Imo State have been selected to receive a bag of rice, carton of indomie and other food stuff each courtesy of a humanitarian organisation, God Sees Me Foundation.

The event, according to the foundation which will take place on Saturday in the state, was organised to cushion the effects of the current economic hardship on the people especially the downtrodden.

Speaking to newsmen over the telephone, the founder of the foundation, a United States based renowned philanthropist, Mrs. Blessing Akwaugo Ogoke said the humane gesture was borne out of her childhood passion, inspired by her late grandmother, Late Mrs. Grace Ezeji-Agim Anyanwu, to always reach out to the needy in the society, hence contribute to the general well-being of the people.

She disclosed that the coming event will be its 10th edition, having organised similar humanitarian event in different capacities for the past 10 years.

According to her, “the God Sees Me Foundation has been in existence for over 15 years now. All this years, we have tried in our little way to put smile on the faces of people especially the needy.

“We have reached out to the indigent sick people and paid their treatment bills. For instance, we have visited and cared for patients Uzoakoli Leprosy Colony in Abia State and Oji River Leprosy Settlement in Enugu State respectively.

“We have also visited orphanage homes, hospitals as well as offered several categories of assistance to the downtrodden especially the widows, orphans and aged ones among them.

She continued, “I must say that God has been very kind to me as He has continually provided me with the resources to do this singlehandedly without any external support so far.

“Also, it is important to mention that we have through this foundation gifted over 2000 widows, orphans and less privileged people with food items, clothes, wrappers, cash and other sundry assistance.

“So this event, coming up on Saturday being 6th of April, 2024, is one of our little ways to help ameliorate the sufferings of the less privileged people, considering the current economic hardship we are all experiencing in the country.

“And by this coming December and subsequent years ahead, by the special grace of God, we plan to extend the gesture to 500 beneficiaries or above. We hope to touch more lives positively for posterity sake.”

“Let me also used this opportunity to solicit support from well-meaning and kindhearted individuals, government and nongovernmental organisations to this our noble and passionate desire to make our society better where love and human kindness will be genuinely demonstrated and sustained. Together we can do it.” she appealed.
