Ex-wrestler Buremoh builds centre for community to mark 20 years as monarch

Nigerian former world heavyweight wrestling titleholder, James Oladipo Buremoh popularly called “African Tiger” has built a multimillion naira Vocational and Computer Training Centre for his Idera kingdom in Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State to mark his 20 years in the throne as Oba.


The project is to be inaugurated in December this year.

The traditional ruler of Idera disclosed this to newsmen in his palace during the week at events marking his 20th anniversary.

He said the project, meant to transform the Idera kingdom would also provide employment opportunities for the teeming youths when completed.


Former professional wrestler, Oba Buremoh built the centre with additional support from his cabinet members, friends and associates through his foundation: “Ladi Tiger Rural Development Foundation.”

The monarch recalled that he was initially apprehensive of what the future had when the kingmakers pronounced him king in 2004 and said “today I give glory to God for the tremendous support my chiefs, family and friends home and abroad give to make the 20 years journey a resounding success.”

He however listed the provision of portable water, infrastructure, renovation of the medical dispensary and classrooms and construction of new classrooms through counterpart funding with the state government,” as some recorded achievements in the last 20 years of his reign.


He added: “I don’t see myself as your king, but I see myself as your servant and I will continue to give my all for the rapid development of Idera kingdom and its environs. That was the specific instruction the Almighty God gave me before ascending the throne of my forefathers and I will not deviate from it. So, wherever you people want, send me.”

He thanked Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for the benefits Idera kingdom is receiving from his government, particularly road constructions.
