Ex-FUOYE VC mourns Otuoke varsity council chairman’s death

The late Chairman of the Governing Council of Federal University, Otuoke, Prof. Tunde Samuel, have continued to receive encomiums.

Prof. Kayode Soremekun, who was the FUOYE Vice Chancellor when the late Samuel was Chairman of the institution’s Governing Council, recalled in his tributes, that the late Samuel inspired the achievements recorded by his administration.

Soremekun, currently Chairman Editorial Board Business Day Newspaper, in a condolence message, commiserated with the Governing Council, the staff and students of Federal University, Otuoke, over the loss, lamenting that Otuoke university would truly miss him, especially his determination to replicate his success story that made FUOYE crossed the bar.


He said the deceased was a consummate democrat, who brought quality to bear during Council meetings by ensuring that all matters were fully discussed and contributed to by all council members before decisions were reached through voting and occasionally by consensus.

He said: “The late council chairman was a standard in humility, transparency, accountability and a firm believer in results who was not given to celebrating efforts, he was always saying that efforts that did not lead to results were not enough and therefore could not be celebrated.”
