End of drought

Because of the introduction of Baal worship in Israel through the marriage of Arab to Jezebel the daughter of Etbal, King of Sidon and the subsequent adoption of Baalism as a national religion; Elijah declared famine in the land in defense of the worship of Yahweh, the God of Israel.

It was a terrible time of drought, such that for forty-two months, there was no rain. Famine set in, the economy crumbled and poverty and death stared the people readily on face. It was beyond what any government policy could change, so, King Ahab was worried for his life and that of the nation. Knowing that the calamity was from God through the prophetic declaration of Elijah, the King and Jezebel, his wife, were up in arms against Elijah. They wanted him dead by all means and would pay any prize to hunt him down or reward anyone that could locate Elijah. Of course, many Prophets of God had been killed earlier by the royal family for their refusal to join in the new religion. So much that Elijah had thought he was the only one that remains.

At the fullness of time, the Lord decided to initiate the process of restoration. He mandated Elijah to go and show himself to Ahab because it was time to end the famine. Even though God had declared a season of rain, it did not come easy. It took a serious contest between the prophets of Baal and Elijah, which eventually led to the destruction of many prophets of Baal, putting Elijah’s life at serious risk as Jezebel in particular had sworn to kill him.

Amid this tension, the Lord appeared and brought rain. Elijah was safe and national economy revived again. God is set to end the famine in your life and in our nation. Divine transition has never been easy. Pharaoh will not want to let go (Exodus 3:19), but no one can stop God when He determines to deliver. The Lord of heaven will deliver you from fear and bewilderment.

At this time of divine intervention the battle may get fiercer and it may appear that hope is not near in sight. Don’t worry… it shall come to pass … these are characteristics of the season of divine transition from famine to favour or from drought to destination.

At this time of divine visitation you will be victoriously before every situation that hitherto worked against you.  Hear the word of the Lord… it is time to end your drought…be calm and wait for the deliverance of the Lord. Happy New Month!
