‘Edo e-govt empowers staff to work remotely’

Managing Director, Edo State Investment Promotion Office (ESIPO), Kelvin Uwaibi has said that public sector reforms facilitated by the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led government has positively impacted businesses and repositioned government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to thrive in a globally competitive environment.

Uwaibi spoke in Benin after his return from the second annual Africa Business Forum in Tallinn, Estonia, with the theme, ‘Building Pathways to Partnerships’.

He said that investments in the technology sector in Edo State have boosted the government’s revolutionary e-government structure, which enables civil servants to work remotely and efficiently.

According to him, “Our public sector reforms are facilitated by our revolutionary e-government structure, which enables Edo State Government staff to work remotely and efficiently. This reform includes providing laptops to government employees and, in collaboration with our partners, training 3,000 staff members in ICT.”

Uwaibi said that innovation could occur more swiftly in Africa compared to more developed regions due to less entrenched legacy infrastructure.

“It was encouraging to see many entrepreneurs in Estonia expressing interest in conducting business in Nigeria. We plan to follow up with these enterprises,” Uwaibi said.
