DSS arrests el-Rufai’s political ally

The Directorate of State Security (DSS), yesterday, arrested Aisha Galadima, a strong ally of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai.

Though the reason for the arrest of the All Progressives Congress (APC) woman was not given at press time, it may not be unconnected with her consistent attack on Governor Uba Sani on social media.

Sources told The Guardian: “Hajiya Aisha Galadima, a Kaduna APC chieftain, a strong ally of el-Rufai and critic of Governor Uba Sani has just been arrested by DSS at her Tudun Wada residence in Kaduna.

“She, most times, used her Facebook page to criticise Sani and his government.”

Meanwhile, when The Guardian spoke with the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, Muhammad Lawal, on the telephone for confirmation of the reported arrest by the DSS, he said: “Honestly, I am not aware of her arrest. But, don’t you think it might not be connected with her attack on the governor, most times on Facebook? It could also be land issues or other problems she may have with the security.”

Since the town hall meeting held by Governor Sani over the huge debts and loans his predecessor, el-Rufai, left behind, Galadima had persisted in criticising the state.
