Devotees celebrate 7th anniversary of lord jagannatha temple in Ilupeju

Fodia Samaj Association of Nigeria, the state unit of the Indian community in Lagos, last week, celebrated the 7th anniversary of Lord Jagannatha Temple in Ilupeju, Lagos.

The event brought thousands of devotees from different locations in the state together to celebrate and participate in the various pujas to Lord Jagannatha and also prayed for Nigeria and the universe.

The Consulate General of India to Nigeria, Mr. Chandramouli Kern and Head of Chancery, Mr. N. Mahesh inaugurated the Kalasa Yatra (Beginning of the Puja) in which 108 ladies participated. Various pujas were offered to the Lord during the three-day event.

It would be recalled that the Lord Jagannatha Temple was constructed seven years ago at Ilupeju,Lagos, by assembling the temple, which was prebuilt in India.

The special attraction of the event was the One-District-One Product (ODOP) exhibition, government of India initiative to promote its’ art and craft, tourism, food, industries, among others, which was conducted on the fourth day, where Odisha residents celebrated their state foundation day anniversary as well.

The Consulate General of India commended the exhibitors for their effort to showcase products from various districts of Odisha.OSAN President, Mr. Ramesh Mallik, Event Chairman, Mr. Anant Sabat and OSAN General Secretary, Mr. Sanjay Das, other trustees and event committee members supervised the programme.

They commended all devotees and donors including the Consulate General of India and other corporations for their contributions and support.
