Developer plans 300-unit housing project in Abuja

Chairman, GText Holdings, Dr. Stephen Akintayo,

To reduce the nation’s housing deficit, a real estate firm, Messrs GText Holdings has begun construction of a 300-unit housing project in the Lugbe area of Abuja.

The project christened ‘Jasper Hillview estate’ consists of one to four-bedroom apartments with boy’s quarters, penthouse and duplexes.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the project, Chairman, GText Holdings, Dr. Stephen Akintayo, said the scheme is part of efforts at ensuring access to homes by Abuja residents. He disclosed that the firm plans to build 25,000 luxury and smart homes across the country in the next two years.

Akintayo said: “The estate would have more than just houses. We plan to have a clinic, gym, fitness centre and mini-park for kids. We will build a road on the tarred path from the dual carriageway to the airport, which is about 600 meters to add value to the neighbourhood.

“The project is green and smart. We are generating our own electricity by converting our wastes to biogas. It’s not just building houses that don’t have proper facilities and infrastructure to accommodate people.”

He urged the government to introduce a first-time buyer programme, whereby a first time buyer doesn’t require 30 per cent being sought by mortgage companies.

“Subscribers can bring 10 per cent, while the government brings the remaining 20 per cent and let any of the mortgage banks take up the remaining. I think that is what could help,” he added.
