Court adjourns trial of ex-NIMASA boss to Nov 10

OMATSEYETHE Federal High Court, Lagos yesterday adjourned the continuation of cross-examination of the former managing director of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Mr. Raymond Omatseye, who is facing criminal charges before the court till November 10 and 11.

Lawyer to the anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Godwin Obla (SAN), informed the court that the agency was yet to get a manual, which the accused claimed to have authorised him to sign contracts above the threshold.

Omatseye is standing trial before Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, on an amended 27-count bordering on contract splitting and bid rigging to the tune of about N1.5 billion offences contract scam.

The lawyer to the former NIMASA managing director, Mr. E. D. Onyeke, also informed the court that his client testified that he has an authoritative manual.
