A thanksgiving service was held recently at the Foursquare Church, Sabo-Yaba in honour of the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina.

It was a moment of reflection and appreciation to God for his numerous blessings on the life of Adesina, as testified to by friends and well wishers who were around to felicitate with the accomplished journalist.

During the service, Rev. Tunde Lemo preached on the importance and need to remain in the presence of God. Using the example of the bible character, David, Lemo said, “David was a man who enjoyed the presence of God; he craved for God’s presence so much that he said better is one day in the presence of God than a thousand years in the world.”

According to Lemo, God’s integrity cannot be judged by the feelings or experiences of any man because God’s integrity is rooted in the consistency of the power of his word to fulfill his ultimate purpose. He added, “God intervenes because you have done things according to his ways.”

The General Overseer of Foursquare Church, Meduoye Felex led the prayer session for Adesina and his family. Other ministers of God who prayed for Adesina were Pastor Dayo Adewunmi, Rev. John Eweje and Rev. Ikechukwu Ugbaja.

Adesina who sees his appointment as a call to serve his country said, “I have done one month of this, and it is service to my country; the present government is working and the media will ensure that the citizenry is fully communicated on whatever the government is doing.”

He promised to do his best with his wealth of 29 years experience in the media and the contacts he has built, adding, “Every experience that I have acquired over 29 years in the media is what I will bring on board.”

On his impression of President Buhari, Adesina said, “I will like to say that if it was not this president I never thought I could serve in government, because he is a man known for integrity, accountability and transparency. That is why I accepted this appointment. The first day I resumed, the President told me that he wants me to always tell him the truth, and I believe he will do all that he has promised Nigerians.”

Adesina further called on Nigerians to be patient with the president, saying, “This President is going to deliver but the style is different. As he moves Nigeria forward, we should be patient because at the end of the day we will have cause to thank him.”

Adesina also stated that his appointment came to him as a surprise, but that he is happy to be working with President Buhari.

The General Overseer Rev. Felex said Adesina’s appointment was divine, noting, “For me I see it as the hand of God to bless his church, because God will always need a man. I am joyful because this will also bring expansion in the church of God. Adesina has a close relationship with the Lord over the years and I know that even now, he will continue to serve God in his position.”

Wife of Adesina Nike said her husband has impacted her life positively over the years, “When we got married, my vision was for my entire family to make heaven. Femi is a Christian I admire; he has sharpened my life, my Faith in God”.

Nike recounted how her husband supported her when she took ill, saying, “Femi demonstrated the love that the Bible speaks about.” She prayed for God’s guidance upon her husband, as he continues in his new office.

Chairman of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Lagos Chapter Joseph Okonmah gave a brief citation of Adesina.
