Bishop Urges Wealthy Nigerians To Care For The Poor

TB in childrenPOLITICIANS and other wealthy Nigerians have been charged to formulate policies aimed at caring for the needy, aged, widows and the teeming poor populace with a view of giving them a sense of belonging in the society.

Making the call in Enugu yesterday, the Archbishop of the Anglican Communion,  Enugu Ecclesiastical Province and Bishop of Enugu, Most Rev (Dr.) Emmanuel Chukwuma, also extended the charge to wealthy Nigerians, urging them to “use what God has blessed you with to help others, because if God has blessed you, it is only natural and moral that you bless the poor.”

At the 60th birthday thanksgiving service of Mr. Paul Erinne, an industroalist and philanthropist and the inauguration of the Paul Erinne Charity Foundation (PEF), at the Cathedral Church of the Good Shepherd, Chukwuma lamented, saying : “it is ironical that in a country as rich as Nigeria, with so many wealthy people, there are so many poor people with no sustainable plan to carter for them. Our politicians are thieves and the wealthy individuals do not want to be their brothers’ keeper.”
