Again, Kefas warns Taraba monarchs over illegal miners

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has, again, called on traditional rulers across the state to stop consenting to illegal mining of mineral resources in the state.


He also told them to desist from installing district/village heads or title-holders without the state government’s approval.
Permanent Secretary, Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Babangida Hassan, who, yesterday at the meeting of traditional rulers’ council in Jalingo, reminded the monarchs of the governor’s directives, urged them to eschew sentiment in the administration of their chiefdoms.

Asking them to desist from balkanising the communities along ethnic or religious lines, Hassan maintained that sanctity of the traditional institution should be maintained to key into the ‘Moving forward’ mantra of the governor.

He said: “It is, therefore, time for your Royal Majesties and Highnesses to look inward, brainstorm and generate ideas that will form the basis of policy thrust of this administration for a new Taraba State.”

According to Hassan, as royal fathers, “Taraba people want to see the resonation of unity among you with radiation of hope that our dear state shall be better.

“We are in a new dispensation under the able leadership of our amiable governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas. ”

The governor is committed to moving the state forward by virtue of his track records and performance in transforming the state on assumption of duty.”

Through the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Ibrahim Yaboro, the governor beckoned the monarchs to give him the much-desired helping hand to take the state to greater heights.

Speaking on behalf of the monarchs, the Chairman, Taraba Council of Traditional Rulers, the Aku-Uka of Ishaku Adda, promised to collaborate with the governor to take the higher position.
