Abuja school, family to immortalise late Ovoke with educational foundation

Miguel Ovoke

• To grant N150m scholarship to under-privileged children

To preserve the memory of four-year-old Miguel Ovoke, a pupil of Brickhall School in Abuja, who died during feeding hours, the authorities have concluded plans to name the Resource Room at the institution after him.

This was disclosed during a joint press conference between the management of Brickhall School, the late Miguel Ovoke’s family and their legal representative, Deji Adeyanju and Partners.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Adeyanju, who noted that no amount of tears could erase the pain of the loss, said the family counted the unfortunate situation an act of God.

He disclosed that the family had concluded plan to set up an educational foundation that would provide scholarship for indigent students in honour of Miguel. He added that N150 million had been earmarked for the project in five years.

“We are consoled by our knowledge of the fact that it is the Almighty that gives, and he alone can take. As mortals, we are not in a position to question the wisdom of the Almighty,” he said.

Adeyanju stressed that Brickhall School would support the Miguel Ovoke foundation by granting scholarships to selected under-privileged children, in memory of the deceased.
